AlSiCal - Towards sustainable mineral and metal industry
Keywords: alumina industry, CO2 capture, bauxite residue, Aranda Mastin, sustainability
Goal
AlSiCal project researches, develops and de-risks a ground-breaking concept for the alumina industry: the patented Aranda Mastin technology. By integrating CO2 capture, this technology enables the co-production of three essential raw materials (Al, Si and precipitated CaCO3), using new resources – e.g. anorthosite, abundantly available worldwide – whilst generating zero bauxite residue and zero CO2 from production.
Our role
TeSMeT, having more than 20 years of experience in alumina production processes, participates in the project with the aim to study and assess AlSiCal project’s technology for alternative aluminosilicate raw materials and by-products.
Duration
From September 2019 to March 2024.
