Maria Bagani

Researcher

My name is Maria Bagani and I have graduated from National Technical University of Athens in 2018, holding a Diploma in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. During my undergraduate studies, I was given the opportunity to gain insight over the whole value chain of raw materials, while during my MSc thesis, the emphasis was given on the hydrometallurgical processing of alternative alumina resources, a research topic which is examined in depth as part of my PhD Thesis at the Laboratory of Metallurgy.

From my first years at the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, I found myself acquainted with the idea of being involved in state-of-the-art projects dealing with the utilization of alternative raw materials. From this point of view, my professional aspiration is participating in the Technologies for Sustainable Metallurgy Group, where my research interest revolves round the experimental analysis and the development of innovative method for the utilization of alternative raw material via the acid route . Beyond the professional evolution, I have been given the opportunity, through the daily interaction with my colleges, to teach and to be taught, becoming a wiser and more active person of the academic, scientific and everyday community.
