HEPHAESTUS - Heavy and Extractive industry wastes PHAsing out through ESG Tailings Upcycling Synergy

The HEPHAESTUS Project is built around one key, overarching objective; to develop a set of scalable and tunable unit operations, integrated in a processing plant, to approach the issue of the EAF and AOD dust and of other types of wastes coming from steel, Nickel and Ferro-Silicon industries, converting them via a circular economy approach into different types of products. This will be achieved by employing a well-thought tailored combination of innovative and established processes.
TeSMet’s main involvement in HEPHAESTUS project includes the thermodynamic modelling of the technology of dusts reductive smelting as well as the conduction of optimization experiments, using laboratory furnaces and focusing on product properties and minimizing energy consumption.
