Tesmet joins the celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day under the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” This theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation—youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change.
With this video, Tesmet focuses on the role of women in research—an area where, despite progress toward gender equality, women remain underrepresented. The She Figures report, published annually since 2003, provides key Europe-wide statistics on gender equality in Research and Innovation. The She Figures 2024 data reveal that women hold only 30% of Grade A positions (equivalent to full professorship) across all fields. In Science and Engineering, this imbalance is even more pronounced at all career stages. Despite a strong presence among students, women’s representation steadily declines as they advance, leading to a significant gap in senior and leadership positions.
In Tesmet we believe in creating an environment where women in research are supported, empowered, and given the space to thrive. That’s why over 70% of our researchers are women.
Let’s keep changing things!
