Supervising Researcher / Process Modelling
I am a senior researcher at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in Greece. I hold an M.Sc. degree (2017) in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from NTUA and a Ph.D. degree (2021) in Materials Science and Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway, followed by a faculty research position at NTNU (2023), including researcher exchange at Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, S. Korea. During my doctoral and research position, I was involved in many projects related to high-temperature systems (pyrometallurgy), focusing on metallurgical processing related to ferrous and non-ferrous systems. My research interests are computational thermodynamics and process modeling for enhancing the optimization of metallurgical processing, developing new alloys, and resource efficiency. I seek to combine and understand deeper fundamental and applied knowledge to implement my vision. I apply computational tools (focusing on thermodynamic modeling) to my everyday research to increase the understanding and quality of my research output. I have an active involvement in the TMS conference activities and served as a lead editor for REWAS 2022, and I am currently a JOM special issue advisor. I have been awarded the TMS Young Leaders Award 2023 and nominated for the IMO3 Sustainable Future Award 2023.
Being part of the Technologies for Sustainable Metallurgy Group (TESMET) has been an excellent experience and has exposed me to challenges I sought to address through my research. Some of the main impacts of the group’s activities are working on developing new metallurgical processes to address industrial challenges, securing a better supply chain, and increasing metallurgical efficiency. Being a part of a multidisciplinary environment with colleagues of different expertise has helped me increase my vision of materials processing and innovation.
